Who we are

MAICEM Pty Ltd (ABN 94 696 552 431) is a small business based in Melbourne, Australia. In this policy “we” and “us” mean MAICEM Pty Ltd.

We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This page is a plain description of what the website does, not a legal document.

The contact form

When you send a message through the contact page we collect what you type in: your name, email address, company (optional) and your message.

The form sends your message as an email to MAICEM's mailbox, which is a Google Gmail account. We use it only to read and reply to your enquiry. We do not add you to a mailing list, sell your details or pass them to anyone else.

Your message is kept in that mailbox for as long as it is useful for the conversation, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. Google may store email on servers outside Australia.

To stop the form being abused, the website notes the IP address a message comes from for up to 15 minutes, in the server's memory only, so that no more than five messages can be sent from one address in that time. It is not saved anywhere.

Hosting and server logs

The website is hosted by Vercel, with the site running in Vercel's Sydney region. Like most web hosts, Vercel keeps standard server logs of requests to the site, including your IP address, the page asked for, the time and your browser type. These are used to run and secure the site and are kept for a short time under Vercel's own policies; Vercel may hold them outside Australia.

To protect the site from automated attacks, Vercel may show some visitors a short browser check (a bot-protection challenge) before the page loads. This works from information your browser sends, such as your IP address, and may set a short-lived security cookie so you are not asked again.

No analytics, advertising or tracking

The site has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies, and it does not load anything from social media or advertising networks. The fonts are served from the site itself, so your browser does not contact Google Fonts.

The only thing the site stores in your browser is your choice of colour theme (grey or sand), saved in your browser's local storage under the name “maicem-theme” so the site remembers it next time. It never leaves your device, and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Seeing or deleting your information

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing us at the address below. We will reply within 30 days.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

Changes to this policy

If the website changes what it collects, we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
